Rothwell finishes in top 15 of region

Rhea Middle 8th grader Kevin Rothwell participated in the TMSGA Regional Tournament as an individual representative of Rhea Middle Golf on May 15 and 16 at Champion’s Run Golf Course just outside of Murfreesboro, TN.

This was a 36-hole event in which players played 18 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Kevin finished in a 2-way tie for 15th in a field of over 50 male golfers.

Rothwell shot an 83 on Monday and followed up with an 81 on Tuesday for a tournament total of 164. He saved his best golf for last, going +1 in his last 9 holes, including 2 birdies and 4 pars.

He finished overall with totals of 5 birdies and 14 pars for the tournament. He also placed highest among the M1 District, which includes the Cleveland and Southeast TN area teams.

Chuck Copeland Memorial Fishing Rodeo set for June 10

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency [TWRA], the Watts Bar Lake Association and the town of Spring City are excited to announce the annual Chuck Copeland Memorial Kid’s Free Fishing Rodeo will take place June 10.

The event will be held at the Spring City Veteran’s Park from 9 a.m. until noon. Registration will begin at 7 a.m. Participants are asked to bring their own fishing rod, if possible as there is only a limited about of loaners available.

The event is open to the entire community for kids ages 12 and under for a day of free food, drinks, snacks, and bait for the kids to fish with. There will also be numerous door prizes available on a first come-first serve basis. The event will be held rain or shine.

Eagle Tennis Camp

Rhea County High

School tennis coaches Jamie Smith and Lil Andrews are directing the 14th annual tennis camp for boys and girls, ages 6-17, July 10-13 (Fri. July 14-rain date), at the Delaware Avenue Tennis Courts, Dayton. Hours: 8:30—11:30 a.m. Various age and ability groups are accommodated on separate courts. Breakfast and lunch as well as snacks and prizes are provided. Cost: $50 per camper. $90 for two siblings. $120 for three or more siblings. RCHS Basketball Camp

RCHS Head Basketball Coaches Daniel Curtis and Darvin Gill are excited to announce the Rhea County High School Boys and Girls Basketball Camp will be held May 31- June 3 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. noon daily. Cost to attend is $30 per camper. The camp is open to Grades second through eighth.

Campers will receive a Rhea County basketball T-shirt and will learn the fundamentals of passing, shooting, dribbling and defense. We hope to see all the future Eagles at camp

Eagle Baseball try-out dates approaching

Try-outs for the 2018 RCHS Baseball Team will be held May 25 at 6 p.m. and May 26 at 8 a.m. All players trying out must have a current physical. For more information, call Coach Ray at 423.570.9275 weekdays before 3 p.m. and any other time at 423-290-6099.

Bowling Try-outs set for May 24

The top ten state-ranked Rhea County Bowling program is excited to announce try-outs for the upcoming season. Tryouts will be held May 24 at 5 p.m. at Crystal Lanes Bowing Center in Dayton.

All participants are required to bring a physical or have had a recent physical from school in which they attended. All players must show proof of physical in order to try out, no exceptions.

Rhea County Summer Soccer Camp 2017

Rhea County Soccer camp will be held Monday, June 5-Thursday, June 8 at Bill Horton Field/Eagle Stadium beginning at 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. noon daily.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day, as well as a performance camp shirt. The cost will be $50/per camper. We will be meeting in Eagle Stadium to start camp each day, and that is where you will register on the first day as well. Camp is open to ages K-8 students are welcome.

On Thursday, camp will host traditional slip-in-slide/water day, which is always a huge highlight of camp. Each camper is encouraged to bring cleats, shin guards, and a water bottle each day.

2017 Rhea County Youth Golf Clinic

Rhea County Youth Golf Clinic will take place June 20-22 at the Dayton Golf and Country Club Time: 8:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Cost: $30 The Clinic is open to children ages 7-15. Prizes will be given away daily.

The clinic will include a drive, chip and putt contest as well as full swing, chipping, putting stations. Children need to bring their own golf clubs with them each day.

Registration will be held from 8:00-8:30 a.m. on day one of clinic (June 20)

RCHS Volleyball Camp

Rhea County High School Volleyball camp is set for June 19-June 23 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at RCHS. Registration will be at 12:30 p.m. on June 18. Cost to attend is $50 per player with a family discount for siblings including $5 off each additional player. Camp shirts will be given. Camp will provide instruction of basic volleyball skill from beginner to intermediate along with passing, setting, serving, hitting and defensive skills.

On Friday, there will be a “Glow in the dark” volleyball game. All players should bring comfortable practice clothes, court shoes, kneee pads and a water bottle.

Rhea County Bowling Camp

Rhea County Bowling camp will be June 15 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Crystal Lanes Bowling Center in Dayton. RCHS Bowling Head Coach Steven Williams along with RCHS Assistants Dean Hale and Chris Neal and Columbia Central Head Coach Mike Ransom will lead instruction for the annual Rhea County High School Bowling Camp. Lunch will be provided. The camp is open to ages elementary through adults. Cost to attend is $25 per bowler.

RCHS Cheer Camp

Rhea County Cheer Camp is scheduled for June 12-June 16 at 9 a.m. until 12 noon daily at the Rhea Middle School gym. Cost to attend is $50 per cheerleader.
